2010 Race Rules
1. The 2010 Snowbird entry fee is $1,250 per 5 bird package. With 5 bird package, 4 birds are placed by breeder and 1 bird is placed into rotation. Single bird entry fee is $350 per pigeon. Payment in full is due at the time entries are shipped to Snowbird Committee.
2. All birds must be shipped directly to the Snowbird committee at the FVC clubhouse from May 1, 2010 to July 2, 2010. Replacement birds will be accepted until July 2, 2010.
3. No entry or replacement bird will be accepted after it has dropped its first flight. No exceptions.
4. The 2010 Snowbird race will be shipped on Thursday January 20, 2011 and flown on Saturday January 22, 2011 from St. George, Utah. Approximate distance 340 miles.
5. The Snowbird prize split will be 70% to breeder and 30% to handler. All race updates and results will be posted on the internet at www.fvcsnowbird.com
6. There will be an OPTIONAL Snowbird Futurity race. You do NOT have to be a Snowbird handler or breeder to participate in the 2010 Snowbird Futurity race. Any breeder or handler that is in good standing with the A.U., I.F.,CU., or other national pigeon organization, and resides within the Snowbird race boundries, is eligible to handle or enter birds in this race. The Snowbird Futurity will be flown from the same location and released at same time as the Snowbird race, with a separate prize fund and separate class entries. The Snowbird Futurity entry fee is $50 per pigeon. Handlers may enter and handle their own pigeons in the Snowbird Futurity race only. Check in dates for the Snowbird Futurity are same as Snowbird race. Entry fee of $50 per pigeon is due when birds are received by the Snowbird Committee. The Snowbird Futurity prize split will be 50% to breeder and 50% to handler.
7. Handlers can handle a maximum of 100 Snowbird entries total, and there is no restriction on how many entries may be placed by one breeder with any one handler. 8. All Snowbird and Snowbird Futurity participants (both breeders and handlers), must be 18 years or older to participate, and must be a member in good standing with the A.U., I.F., C.U., or other national pigeon organization. All handlers must be approved by the Snowbird committee.
9. Handler MAY NOT handle, or re-band any of his/her own Snowbird entries, including replacement birds.
10. The 2010 Snowbird boundaries are west of the 57 freeway, and south of the San Gabriel Mountains.
11. Handlers must register all Snowbird and Snowbird Futurity entries and replacements through the Snowbird committee. Electronic chips will be supplied to all handlers for Snowbirds. Chipping of Snowbirds and Snowbird Futurity entries must be done by a Snowbird committee member at the FVC clubhouse.
12. Any Snowbird handler can receive rotation birds. However, rotation loft handlers will be responsible for securing a minimum of 5 Snowbird entries, or enter 1 five bird package to qualify for rotation birds. If a handler fails to secure a minimum of 5 Snowbird entries, handler will be required to pay the difference up to 5 birds, or enter the amount of birds into the race to reach the minimum 5 bird requirement.
13. All birds must be shipped to the FVC Clubhouse at 9008 Laurel Canyon Blvd., Sun Valley, Ca. 91352. Please include payment in full with shipping. Birds will be accepted
between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm daily. (Closed on Sunday and Monday). Please mail out birds Mon.Tues.or Wed. You can reach the FVC by telephone at (818) 768-1675.
14. Snowbird and Snowbird Futurity entries to remain property of the handler unless prior arrangements are made with the handler by the breeder.
15. The top 10 pigeons in the Snowbird race will be auctioned off on the internet with 40% going to the breeder, 40% going to the handler, and the remaining 20% going to the FVC/auction site.
16. Any club with 10 handlers participating in the 2010 Snowbird race will receive $500 for their club treasury.
17. All birds will be vaccinated for PMV upon arrival. No exceptions.
18. The FVC will take 16% off the top of all money. There will be a donation to the City of Hope.
19. The internet addresses for all Snowbird related news and updates will be www.fvcsnowbird.com.
20. Any unforeseen circumstances will be settled by the Snowbird Race Committee. All decisions made by the Snowbird Race Committee will be final. FVC race rules apply.
21. The Snowbird Race Committee reserves the right to use drug testing, and the first 3 pigeons in the race will be tossed.
